Hey Robert

I guess your Router/Firewall/Wireless Access Point should have an option to act as DHCP server, that would be the easiest solution. And if you don't like DHCP you can also compile the StripInvaders Firmware with a static IP assigned.

Hope that helps
cheers

Hello Michu,
...My base shield comes tomorrow, in the mean time I've got some lights ablinking but need to setup my DHCP sever. I've tried a few turtioials and downloaded some third party software. Just wondering what you used. I'm Windows 7. Is there a particular tutorial you followed?
cheers

Take a look at Seeedstudios Wiki: http://www.seeedstudio.com/wiki/index.php?title=Stem_-_Base_Shield

GND is GND (sounds good, eh?), 5V to 5V (again, sound pretty logical). As long you don't connect 5V to the 3.3V connector, you cannot blow anything.

Hey again, almost there,
I got myself a ATX power supply. my setup is without a base shield so am I right in assuming that the 5v goes from the Vin on the arduino to the 5v on the ATX and then onward to the strip (black wire) and the same for the ground which goes to the blue wire? I'm so close I don't want to blow anything!! It could be and idea to have a photo without the base shield...

The HDD is not encrypted, just formatted as extfs. But the recordings are encrypted to only allow playback on the TV they were recorded -> maybe this?

There also is an exploit for the Allegro Rompager Webserver:: http://www.securiteam.com/exploits/5XP0M0UCUO.html
But I'm no expert on how to use this.

To be honest, I don't have a clue. I don't have the POE version nor a POE injecter. But I guess it depends on the injector. According to this paper: http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/article/HONSHI/20071127/143095/ the default power is about 13Watt. My Strip needs up to 10 Watt per meter (when full white)...

Hey, just got your strip, getting the Arduino Ethernet board with adapter and POE tomorrow. Just wondering if the POE will be enough to power the strip, if not and I need to buy a power supply how many amps should I be looking for? cheers

Will neorainbowduino work with the V3 Raindbowduinos? I have been trying for several hours to get this to work, but I keep getting com.neophob.lib.rainbowduino.NoSerialPortFoundException: Error: no serial port found!

I have tried with the V3 by itself and also with an Arduino running neoLED.pde, per your instructions. I've tried with mac and windows and cannot get any of the example sketches to work in Processing.

I stumbled on this page when trying to build a PS3 mouse adapter. I was thinking about buying the FT232RL serial-usb-converter breakout board at Sparkfun (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/718), to use with a Teensy board...

Now, I understood probably 1% of what was stated in this article, and I really have no clue what any of this means (I'm just building this adapter with the aid of pictures). But, stumbling upon this page tells me one thing... that certain Arduino products may have latency issues.

Well, latency is a big deal in the gaming community, and I was wondering; does any of this latency-talk apply to the FT232RL product? It looks like an Arduino product. If so, I might as well settle for the CP2102 serial to USB converter.

This may be a very misinformed question, which I understand completely, and these Arduino latency issues may not even apply to the FT232RL converter I mentioned at all.

Well, I'm no pratitioner, but maybe 2 cents from me.

Regarding the Encryption:
With my model, a xxpfl5xxx, if you want to record something (regardless of timeshift or normal) the TV wants to format a connected HDD. The manual states, that you cant use this HDD in this condition otherwise.
This could either be because its formated for Linux, or because its encrypted. In latter case, maybe its made with the same method and key as the firmware, because it has to be decoded again, and why use a second key for this. That would add cost.

Other possibility would be jointspace. Your articel is now 2 years old, and it has probably more functions now than then.
First the webserver is now in use with xxPFL5xx6 to xxPFL9xx6 models. Via port 1925 you can use some GET and two POST methods. SO no big deal for rooting I gues.
But Jointspace has a lot of methods in use. With this you can prorgamm software which is executed on your PC but shown on your TV. So maybe, if there is a weakness in their drawing function it is possible to activate telnet through a pufferoverflow or something like this.
(For example there is software for just showing your monitor on TV via ethernet or for playing Doom, controlled by remotecontrol http://jointspace.sourceforge.net/download.html )

I really wish I could elaborate on "does not work", but it just.. fails silently.. no errors or warning but the rxtx objects in the java program can't be initialized, class not found.. exact errors as when there is no .dll at all in the path. I tried enabling debugging in the makefile, made a .dll 50k larger but same silent failure. thanks for letting me know it does work on something at least :) now i will try to find the difference here.

I use this dll on my 32bit Windows System for some PixelInvaders installation without issues.... are you using a 64bit os? what does "does not work" mean? Did you use Dependency Viewer to check some missing libraries? Oh, I had an issue on a old Windows XP System, after updating it so SP3 it worked.

Hi,

Interested in your patches to rxtx.. but the windows .dll here does not work for me. tried compiling from your source, compiles identical .dll here. tried compiling from cvs, also gives non working dll. but, your version of 2.2pre3 works fine. so.. any idea what is going on? does the pre5 dll here work fine on other windows systems? any clue appreciated.
